Flights to Hamburg are offered by many national, inner-Europe and intercontinental airlines. The airport is only 10 kilometres from the city centre. The suburban railway system offers a direct service from the airport to Hamburg's main railway station, so that visitors can smoothly continue their journey by train. There are smaller airports in Lübeck, Kiel and on the island of Sylt.

By train
Germany boasts a first-rate rail network. Major cities can be reached at least on an hourly basis either with the state railway system Deutsche Bahn or using private railway companies. There are also many regional networks which cover the holiday regions and most other important destinations. A great many low-priced offers are available to rail travellers.
